Accounting Intern (Part-Time / Flexible Hours)
Accounting Integration and Management Solutions (AIMS) is seeking a motivated Accounting Intern who is looking to gain hands-on experience in a professional accounting and advisory firm environment. This role is designed to provide real-world exposure to client accounting, bookkeeping, and financial processes. Interns support our Accounting and Advisory teams on an as-needed basis, with the potential to transition into a full-time role after graduation or as business needs allow.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with general ledger and bank reconciliations
- Prepare and post journal entries under supervision
- Support month-end close activities (accruals, account clean-up, documentation)
- Assist with preparation of financial statements and periodic client reports
- Help maintain organized digital records in accordance with AIMS’ documentation and retention practices
- Use accounting software, billing systems, and spreadsheet tools to complete assigned tasks
- Provide ad hoc support to Accounting and Advisory team members as needed
Qualifications
- Completion of at least two college-level accounting courses (or equivalent)
- Working knowledge of basic accounting principles (GAAP fundamentals preferred)
- Comfortable using Excel and Word; experience with accounting software is a plus (QuickBooks or similar), but not required
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
- Willingness to learn, take feedback, and work across multiple client engagements

Staff Accountant
Accounting Integration and Management Solutions is looking for a driven Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing general ledger account and bank statement reconciliation, preparing journal entries and financial statements, creating and maintaining periodic reporting, assisting with annual budgeting, preparing statistical and financial reports for clients, providing financial analysis, and maintaining records retention. This role will assist the Senior Accountant and/or Senior Management Consultant in preparation of any other miscellaneous financial reports or strategic planning to drive business decisions and improve financial performance for AIMS clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reconcile general operating account, payroll bank statements and enter the cash journals into the General Ledger.
- Develop and maintain financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term strategic planning. Utilizes accounting system, billing system, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
- Perform various complex account analyses and reconciliation.
- Analyze client financial data and key performance indicators to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for client review while maintaining compliance with regulations.
- Maintain records retention log to facilitate the orderly file system of permanent records for adherence to record retention policy.
- Assist with the month-end closing process, conducting research and making correction journal entries for account discrepancies.
- Prepare closing journal entries, posts accrual entries, and prepare financial statements.
- Assist with the preparation of corporate and personal income tax returns.
- Will need to be effective at communicating with clients and presenting financial information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Business or related field.
- Minimum two or more years experience in accounting or related business area
- Experience in financial planning and analysis, corporate finance, or related field.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial modeling and analysis.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and/or financial planning.
- Proven track record of good communication skills
- Proficient in spreadsheet software (Excel) and Word.
- Access and Accounting Software knowledge preferred.
- ABILITY TO: Meet deadlines and prioritize tasks; work efficiently with minimal supervision
- Detailed oriented and teachable.
